Hello, we’re Elizabeth and Matt, and we live in Ball Ground, Georgia. We are creative, hardworking, busy, and we just added farmers to our resume. Our family of six is on the constant move, and we are always coming up with projects to keep us busy.
I’ve always been a creative person, and I’m a homemaker at heart. I enjoy making our house feel like a home. I have a passion for interior design, baking, and photography. I began as a fine art photographer in art school and have since started my own portrait business in the Atlanta area.
Matt and I were married in 2002. Matt has proven over and over to be the best man I know. He is a great provider, husband, father, and he puts up with all of my DIY projects. Our journey of backyard homesteading really began with him about six years ago. Matt grew up with a love for hunting and fishing. He also was a gardening hobbyist. Once we purchased our first home, he convinced me to let him grow a large garden. I certainly was reluctant at first, but after tasting the freshness of homegrown food I was hooked. From there our lifestyle and habits have gravitated towards becoming more self sufficient. In the summer of 2015 we decided to fulfill our dream of owning more property. We found 15 acres up in the country and have already added adorable farm animals to the mix. We know we have a lot to learn, but our yearning for the simple, quiet life is our dream.
Our farm has officially been named Quiet Life Farms. Our name was picked from 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 where it says, “and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.” We thought that was such a great way to lead life and ultimately our hope is that our lives point to Christ.
